Evacuation orders lifted after Montezuma/Fairmount Fire erupts in San Diego

The Montezuma Fire is prompting mandatory evacuations as fire crews work to contain the blaze.

SAN DIEGO – All evacuation orders have been lifted in parts of San Diego ^[2] after a brush fire erupted near the San Diego State University campus on Thursday afternoon.

The Montezuma/Fairmount Fire had scorched almost 40 acres by Thursday afternoon.

Voting has already started for Tuesday's election. In the areas hard-hit by Helene, many polling places are no longer easy to get to. As a solution, the state has put up tents to act as temporary polling places for voters.

Ocean temperatures are still warm and well above average which could fuel development this late in hurricane season.
