The Alaska Volcano Observatory has been monitoring Shishaldin after signs of unrest over the last month. Video shows steam spewing from the top of the volcano on Aug. 17, 2025. 
UNIMAK ISLAND, Alaska – The Alaska [1]Volcano Observatory is raising the alert level one notch for the Shishaldin Volcano[2] on Unimak Island after recent signs of unrest.

The observatory now has the volcano in its yellow/advisory alert instead of green/normal
